Why I took Global Issues.

I took Global Issues because I don't really know what is going on in the world to be honest. I want to learn about it because my cousin is in Afghanistan and I don't know where he is, what he is doing there, or how long it will be before he will even be home. This class will help me understand more about the world and what is going on with the war.

Why I Joined Global Issues

I joined global issues because I couldn't get into psychology. However, I am excited to learn about current events happening around the world, and to further my knowledge in this class.

Why I joined Global Issues

I choose Global Issues for my history class this year because it was the only one that seemed appealing and interesting to me.

Why I joined Global Issues

I joined Global Issues because while I do enjoy learning about history I feel it is equaly important to understand what is happening currently around us

Why I joined Global Issues

I joined Global Issues because for the most part, it seemed like the easiest option for a History Class, no offense. Also, I joined so I could see Mr. Wallimann's lovely man scruff everyday.

Stop Coddling the Super-Rich

I agree with Warren Buffett when he says, "Billionaires like [him] should pay more taxes". The United States Government seems to think that the “mega-rich” don’t need to be taxed as much because they are doing more investing in the country. Although this may be true, it is still no reason to cut taxes for them. The fact is that we have a national debt of almost 15 trillion dollars and one way to reduce this is increasing the taxes of the super wealthy, who by the way, have more money than they know what to do with. I also agree with the idea that the 12 congressmen who have to reduce the debt by 1.5 trillion should start by cutting taxes for the lower and middle class and seriously increasing the taxes for the top 2% who are super wealthy. I am impressed that Warren Buffett is humble enough to speak out, because the lower and middle class have been saying this same thing for a long now. The truth is it takes one of the richest men in the United States to really be heard.

Stop Coddling the Super-Rich Response ( 150 Words )

I agree with Warren Buffet in his article called "Stop Coddling the Super-Rich". First rich and poor shouldn't go through a "shared sacrifice". The "mega-rich" already have enough money to do what they want in there life and it wouldn't affect them as much as middle class or poor citizens. If we taxed the rich more and the middle class families less then they will have a chance at living as comfortably as mega-rich citizens. Buffet says " most wouldn't mind being told to pay more taxes as well", and just by saying so then why wouldn't we tax the rich? They don't need more money then the middle class because the middle class are already happy about how they live and it would make them happier on being taxed less. I totally agree with taxing the rich and lowering taxes on middle classes and saying good bye to "shared sacrifices".

Stop Coddling the Super-Rich Response

In this essay Warren E. Buffet, chairman and executive of Berkshire Hathaway and billionaire, discusses the fact that America's "mega-rich" citizens are being taxed less than the average American. Buffet goes onto explain that these "mega-rich" citizens need to be taxed far more than the average American. I find it hard to disagree with Buffet's ideas, but I can understand why the Government isn't harshly taxing these incredibly wealthy men and women. To do this would be to break the code of equality in America. But, I do believe that this equality must be broken when we're talking about billionaires. These people are making money that they probably won't be able to spend in their lifetimes, therefore a good deal of their money should be given to the government in order to give tax relief to middle and lower class Americans. As Aristotle said years ago the most perfect political community is one in which the middle class is in control, and outnumbers both of the other classes.
